Wellness: DIY Lemon Detox Water Recipe to cleanse your body and burn fat.


Recently, detoxing has been a part of my lifestyle  and  the detox water has been an effective tool towards my dieting program.   In this post, I will discuss the benefits of lemon detox water , and give a simple step by step recipe to get you started.

What is detox water ?
Detox Water is any infused water recipe that helps flush your system of toxins and improves your health.  Lemon water is one of the very first detox water recipes created, besides having a sweet and tangy flavour (yummy) it has many benefits associated with it.

Benefits of lemon detox water
  • Helps clean your liver : water is the key component of any detox water recipe, the enzymes help stimulate liver functions and eliminates waste from your body. 

  • Aids digestion : Acids in lemon water have been reported to slow the digestion process which helps with better absorption of nutrients.
  • Boosts your immune system : lemon water is a good source of vitamin C which helps in improving the strength of your immune system. 
  • Improves your skin condition : lemon water contains antioxidant which help reduce blemishes and minimizes wrinkles. Also it contains vitamin C which naturally firms up the skin.

  • Lemon Detox Water assists with weight loss.
  • Naturally boosts your metabolism.
  • Helps increase your energy levels.
  • Contains potassium which helps lower your blood pressure.


Preparation Steps on making lemon detox water

Although no precise measurements are usually necessary when making lemon detox water, a good balance can be achieved with the following in ingredients and utensils :

  • 2 fresh lemons
  • 600ml of clean water
  • Manual juice extractor
  • Water bottle
  • Bowl




Step 1:
Halve one lemon, and remove the seeds.


Step 2:
Squeeze out the juice from the halved lemon using the juice extractor,




Step 3: 
Take the second lemon and cut it into thin slices, fill your water bottle with clean water, and add the  juice of the  halved lemon into the water. Also put your  lemon slices into the bottle





Step 4:
Allow it to sit in your fridge for 1  hour,  before serving.  You can refill the bottle with more water  2 to 3 times during the day, before it begins to lose flavour.



Note :  lemon detox water is perfect  to take with you and sip all day like regular water or as a weight loss treat.  To make it easier on the go , I recommend a portable water bottle which can be tucked into your bag.

  1. I like using detox water too. Usually I infuse my water with cucumber slices, honey (because I want some sweetness) and mint or lemon sometimes. It reduces my cravings for carbonated drinks so I like that.

    1. Consistency is key. It's not a one time thing. Make it a part of your diet program. Also make sure you use fresh fruits and don't substitute lemon for lime.
