EVENT || CREATIVITY AT SAO AND THE MUSE 3

Recently I attended the Sao and the muse 3 event and all i can say is i was awed by the level of creativity showcased by young Nigerian artists who spend time in their own unique ways , creating art in it's many forms.

Sao and the muse is an annual art event , a creative's haven with diverse medium and bodies of work . The event is currently in it's third year, and it was held from August 3 - 5th , at  Sao cafe, Lagos. It was my first time attending and I would say it's different from other art exhibitions I have been to. There was a relaxed atmosphere enabling guests not to only see art but engage with it.

This year exhibition themed "Collaboration Era"  explores the power of artists eith diverse mediums coming together to create out of the box art,  and below are the exhibiting artists and their installations for this year's Sao and the muse.

"ULO" by POPARTII  & JANE MICHEAL EKANEM

Ulo is a post modern art installation by Popartti ( urban fashion brand  with art as it's focal point ) and Jane ekanem ( fashion stylist and designer) .  Ulo means "house " in igbo language  and is inspired by the Nigerian  vintage style of living . It is a visual  re-imagination of a living room  filled with junk household materials that has been transformed  with colours and the ankara african print fabric. Ulo is colourful and vibrant and it's beauty runs deep.

THE HAPPINESS ROOM by THE YELLOW OF LAGOS.

The room called  happiness was all shade of sunshine from the yellow walls, the lights, inscriptions , the yellow woven mats , the woven African handfan billowing down from the ceiling , all inspired by African art and Crafts .  From the entrance you are greeted with an inscription  that says "your path to happiness starts here" and other inscriptions like "find your happiness" and " if you are happy and you know it sit right here " at a spot where a high stool sits.

OSA SEVEN ( GRAFTTI KING)

Osa seven had a graftti car installation at the exhibition that was colourful and funky . He also presented graffti paintings of benin art and others at the exhibition .

ART ON HISTORY by ROTIMI WILLIAMS

Rotimi Williams presented some unique artworks made from glass and  jars as old as 100 years at the exhibition.  Theses jars were painted , creating colourful pieces.  One of the works MADAM caro had two jars inverted and painted upon.

Other artworks by Osa Seven, Williams Chechet, John Madu and Obi Chigozie.

PARADISE  by  MR COLOR

The room called paradise is a modern retelling of  the story of the garden of Eden  from a pre- sin perspective.  What I love most is that eve was represented by this black mannequin.

HEAVEN by 512ACTIVITY

The art installation by 512Activity called Heaven is a show of creativity in grand style. There was a runway setup with fish pools by its side  . The area had soft lights, and  softly draped white muslin cloth giving it an heavenly feeling.

INFINITY VIA AFRICA by AYE & WILLIAMS CHECHET

The Infinity via africa room is a sound/music room installed by AYE of village sound system and Williams chechet.   African sounds  and vibrations were produced in this room with people singing , dancing  and having a chance to play musical instruments .

CURATED ART SHOP

There was an art shop where locally made art and craft pieces like straw bags and jars, leather items and other art pieces were sold.

The event had the coolest kids in attendance,  the fashion was lavish with the latest trends in show, and i totally enjoyed the vibes and ambience. I left my mark at painting spot with my patner in art ezinne of  allmyview.com .

Did you attend Sao and the muse 3 event ? How was the experience and what was your favourite art installation?  Do leave your comments below.
