Wandering on the longest canopy walk in Africa || Things to do at the lekki conservation center

One of the favourite  things I love apart from being a book - hungry reader is travelling,  I would love to travel and visit tourist places around the world , but as they always say  you wanna see the world, start from your backyard  .  So I  decided to start  first with my home  Country Nigeria and on a sunny  saturday I decided to see more of lagos city by  going  on  a group tour of lekki conservation center  with friends via  Tvp adventures.

The lekki Conservation Center  is Located after chevron Estate Gate,  just before the 6th roundabout (coming from V.I),  it's a bio-diversity conservation center that
protects the wildlife and mangrove forests from the threat of urban development.

We started the tour with our tour guide by walking through a wooden bridge that leads us to the nature trail which consists of the Swamp/Marshland and the Savannah grassland, animals like monkeys, birds and squirrels were seen moving freely in their natural habitat.

From the forest, we made it to the entrance of the canopy walkway (the longest in Africa) and embarked on a journey made for only the fittest of people.

The canopy walkway / suspension bridge is the longest in Africa, it's 22.5ft high at the highest point and 401m long with seven levels. I was terrified of going through the seven levels of the canopy walkway because the walkway kept shaking and funmi of  tvp adventures  was not helping matters by swinging the ropes which made the walkway shake more.  There were rest points at the end of each  level. I was the most scared person amongst us all ( I was
literally at the end of the pack and I held unto the rails throughout while screaming).

After descending the walkway, we toured the rest of the park, we found a tree house, played human - sized board games, saw a pond, and then finally we had lunch and played more games. We also saw animals like peacocks and tortoise  moving freely around the park.

Tour Tips
  • The access fee per person to the park is       #1,000 naira and to go on the canopy walkway, you have to pay another #1,000 naira.
  • Make sure you are assigned a tour guide after payment.
  • Ensure you wear comfortable clothing (no high heels and dramatic clothes / accessories) .
  • Bring along a bottle of water, you will need it after going on the canopy walkway.
  • Ensure to do the canopy walkway ( it's quite thrilling)
  • Go with foods and drinks, it's actually allowed into the park at no extra cost.
  • It's better to go in a group, the more people, the merrier it gets.

Verdict : I wouldn't mind going again because I love nature and adventure. The experience would be terrifying yet exciting for a first timer .

Have you done anything adventurous recently?! What do you think of LCC and the canopy walkway? I would really love to hear from you. Kindly leave a comment below; Thanks.
