Book Review || Gravity and The Silent Girl by Tess Gerritsen

let's talk about the bestseller author Tess Gerritsen "FICTION QUEEN"  books Gravity and The Silent girl.

GRAVITY is a story about a plague - like epidemic is on a space station, where a team of six astronauts suddenly found themselves threatened by a virulent Bio hazard. Victims first register a headache, followed by stomach pains, then their eyes turn blood red. Finally, they convulsed so violently that they literally bash themselves apart. The most Frightening part is what spills out of their bodies - green egg filled globules.

Astronaut Emma Watson, the station's onboard doctor struggles to fight the outbreak while her colleagues die one by one. The first Astronaut to get sick was a Japanese, he was sent down to earth via space shuttle, but dead on arrival.

The military physicians discovered a deadly mutant - a creature that's part human, part frog and part mouse in the eggs that spills from the dead Japanese Astronaut body. The contamination was traced to an experiment on the space station that was funded by a company researching tiny organisms in the ocean off south America, where an asteroid Hut thousands of years ago.

Meanwhile, back on the station Watson is the only Astronaut left alive and the military say's she's infected and must be left to die in space but Watson 's husband, a fellow Astronaut Jack Mc Callum didn't accept the decision and finds a way to get her home even though the couple where in the process of divorce.

Rating : 8/10.......... The author's detailed description of life in space is true due to her impressive research and also the suspense level is superb though horrific.

THE SILENT GIRL is a story about a homicide detective Rizzoli and a forsenic pathologist Dr. Maura  Isles in Boston's China town.

They find a hand first, neatly severed, on a street in China town and the rest of the woman's  dead body in a nearby rooftop. It takes a while for detective Rizzoli and her PD colleagues to identify the dead woman. However, who she was and what she was up to was less relevant than where she was killed - a small Chinese restaurant called Red Phoenix where a mass murder happened in it's premises 19 years earlier. The cook Wu Weimin then at the Red Phoenix , an illegal immigrant from China, pulled a gun, shot the waiter James Fang, 3 customers and then himself. Fast forward to present day, fault lines are becoming apparent in the mass murder case. When Rizzoli finds herself eye to eye with It is Fang, widow to the slain waiter James Fang, the hole deepenes.

Iris Fang owns a martial arts academy makes it clear that she has sufficient reasons for not believing the cook Wu Weimin murdered her husband in the Red phoenix mass murder. Detective Rizzoli with the help of  Dr.Maura Isles solves this intricate case.

Rating :7/10........ Tess Gerritsen is a hard scrabble plotter and what she does is so compelling.
